“Gli 8 violoncelli di Torino” nascono nel 2005 da un sogno nel cassetto del Maestro Fabrice De Donatis. Desideroso di creare un gruppo violoncellistico, unico in Italia che fosse caratterizzato innanzitutto da un legame affettivo e di amicizia tra gli esecutori, contattò i seguenti colleghi: Giulio Arpinati, Massimo Barrera, Alberto Capellaro, Umberto Clerici, Paola Perardi, Claudia Ravetto e Manuel Zigante.
L’ottetto dei violoncelli è quindi formato da musicisti di consolidata carriera, basta pensare a Giulio Arpinati 2° violoncello del Teatro Regio di Torino, Massimo Barrera che collabora con l’Ensemble Europeo Antidogma Musica, Alberto Capellaro violoncellista al Teatro Regio di Torino, Umberto Clerici affermato musicista del panorama musicale mondiale, Fabrice De Donatis violoncellista che collabora stabilmente con l’Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della Rai e con l'Orchestra Filarmonica ‘900 del Teatro Regio di Torino, Paola Perardi spalla di prestigiose orchestre tra le quali la Filarmonica di Torino, Claudia Ravetto docente di Conservatorio e violoncellista del quartetto “Goffredo Petrassi” e Manuel Zigante, anch’egli docente di Conservatorio e violoncellista del “Quartetto d’archi di Torino”.
In alcuni concerti l'ottetto si è avvalso della collaborazione dei Maestri Giorgio Casati, Andrea Favalessa, Francesca Gosio, Heike Schuch, Carlo Bertola, Andrea Cavuoto, Luca Magariello, Pierpaolo Toso ed Augusto Gasbarri. Sito internet
