For the first time in its history, the Moncalieri Jazz Festival moves the traditional Turin concert to the opening of the festival.
Following the traditional opening event “Notte Nera” in Moncalieri on Saturday 25 October, featuring dozens of jazz groups throughout the town, the 28th edition of the Festival officially opens on Sunday 26 October 2025 at 6:00 p.m. at the Rai Auditorium “Arturo Toscanini” with a concert dedicated to the 110th anniversary of Frank Sinatra’s birth — the timeless voice that shaped generations and marked the history of 20th-century music.
The evening’s protagonist is Gianluca Guidi, singer and actor, son of Johnny Dorelli and Lauretta Masiero, long associated with Sinatra’s repertoire. Guidi brings to the stage a unique performance enriched with personal stories and anecdotes, paying tribute to “The Voice” through memory and contemporary interpretation.
He is joined by the RAI National Symphony Orchestra conducted by Steven Mercurio, with arrangements and orchestrations by Andrea Ravizza, enhanced by a jazz house band featuring Claudio Chiara, Valerio Signetto, Gianni Virone, Luca Biggio, Gianni Alberti, Fabio Gorlier, Francesco Bertone and Gianpaolo Petrini.
The concert is also interpreted in Italian Sign Language (LIS) by Caterina Musio and made accessible through subtitles, confirming the Festival’s commitment to inclusivity. The evening is introduced by Marco Basso, music critic for “La Stampa”.
This event marks an important novelty: after many years in which the concert with the RAI Orchestra traditionally closed the Festival, in 2025 Moncalieri Jazz chooses to open its 28th edition with this special evening, running until 9 November.
