David Garrett

He began playing the violin at age four, and at thirteen, he became the youngest artist ever to sign an exclusive contract with Deutsche Grammophon. This is David Garrett, an internationally renowned violinist who bridges the gap with younger generations through his personal synthesis of classical, pop, rock, and R&B. He is the featured soloist for the Rai National Symphony Orchestra’s Carnival Concert, scheduled for Tuesday, February 28 2017 at 8:30 PM at the "Arturo Toscanini" Rai Auditorium in Turin. The concert will be recorded and broadcast on delay on Rai5 and Radio3. American conductor Ryan McAdams will be on the podium.

The program features a selection of brilliant pieces to celebrate Carnival: the Overture from Johann Strauss II's Die Fledermaus, Vittorio Monti's Czárdás, and Paganini's Capriccio No. 24, followed by a suite from Bizet's Carmen. The second half includes the Three Dance Episodes from Leonard Bernstein's On the Town, Brahms' Hungarian Dance No. 5 in the version for violin and orchestra, the Four Dances from Alberto Ginastera's ballet Estancia, the Mambo from West Side Story, and the Overture from Jacques Offenbach's Orphée aux Enfers.

The program also includes a performance of Der Wahnsinn, by Andrea Ravizza
