Intenso Italiano marks a defining milestone in the artistic evolution of The Italian Tenors, establishing itself not as a standard vocal compilation, but as a disciplined stylistic decantation of Italy's melodic legacy.
A Shared Vision and Aesthetic Architecture
Conceived through an ongoing artistic dialogue between producer Evans Tonon and Andrea Ravizza, the album stems from the deliberate intention to strip Italian melody of regional folklorisms and commercial crossover clichés. Granted full creative latitude by Tonon in the arranging and orchestrating process, Ravizza designed a calibrated acoustic framework in which structural clarity generates genuine elegance, establishing a strictly equal partnership between the symphonic apparatus and the vocalists.
The Orchestra as a Theatrical Interlocutor
Far from functioning as an ornamental background or dynamic amplifier, the orchestra operates across these scores as an active, expressive character. The symphonic texture enters into constant dialogue with the three tenors—whose individual timbres bridge operatic resonance and subtle pop flexibility—via articulated counterpoint and dynamic layering. Rich string sections, woodwinds, and brass actively converse with the lyrical narratives, reinterpreting iconic works by Ennio Morricone, Nino Rota, Lucio Dalla, and Zucchero, alongside Leonard Cohen's solemn reflection.
Production Process and Studio Architecture
The album's technical journey followed an exacting, sequential studio process. The rhythm section—Gilberto Bonetto on piano, Francesco Bertone on acoustic and electric bass, and Edoardo Luparello on drums—tracked at Only Music Studio in Bruino with recording engineer Carlo Miori. Following this foundation, the Bratislava Symphony Orchestra (BSO) recorded the orchestral scores on September 5, 2026, at the Slovak Radio Concert Hall in Bratislava under the baton of David Hernando Rico, supervised by Ravizza. Vocal tracks were completed in mid-September at Only Music, where editing, mixing, and mastering were finalized to secure an organic, cohesive acoustic balance.
Release and International Tour
Available on Spotify and major streaming platforms, Intenso Italiano serves as the central programme of The Italian Tenors' extensive European tour, expanding the reach of the project across major international stages and reaffirming a noble, layered dimension of Italian vocal art.
