Verbreitung - Verdichtung (Expansion - Thickening), composed in 2018 for a five-instrument ensemble (flute, B♭ clarinet, violin, cello, and piano), is a composition awarded at the NED Ensemble's 2018 Call for Scores.

Technical analysis: the dialectics of Eindickung

The work explores the technique of Eindickung (material thickening), where the sonic material evolves from a phase of expansion (Verbreitung) to a progressive saturation of the acoustic space. Through the use of staggered entries and sound bands (Streifen), the counterpoint structure is transformed into a granular and dense texture. This process reflects Ravizza's research on the "flesh of time," understood as a material layering that makes the dialectical process between formal rigor and perceptual freedom transparent.
