The Decennial: A Synthesis of Memory and Regeneration
On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of "Il Jazz italiano per le terre del sisma," the new production commissioned by the Jazz all'Aquila Association from Andrea Ravizza emerges as a profound sonic investigation into the themes of reconstruction and evolution. The work "10 anni!!!" is not merely a celebration but an interactive sonic ecosystem where orchestral writing meets jazz extemporaneity.
Structure and Musical Architecture
The suite is organized through programmatic movements that serve as stages of a transformative journey: Alba, Orizzonte, Visioni, Tracciati, and Evoluzione. The score highlights a dynamic balance between mathematical compositional rules and the human sensitivity of the soloists, making the dialectical process transparent to the listener. The heterogeneous ensemble allows for a timbral research that ranges from the density of the brass to the rarefaction of the strings, treating sonic matter as the "flesh and skin" of time.
The Ensemble and the Dialogue of Languages
Under the conduction of Ravizza himself, the performance features the synergy between I Solisti Aquilani, the brass and sax classes of the "A. Casella" Conservatory, and a prominent House Band. The dialogue is enriched by the soloistic contributions of Francesco Cafiso, Nico Gori, and Eleonora Strino, who act as active characters on stage, leading the work towards a contemporary synthesis where cultured jazz merges with a wide-ranging orchestral vision.
