On June 20, 2015, the "60 Years of RAI TV Themes" project arrived at the prestigious Ravenna Festival, held at the Palazzo Mauro De André. The RAI National Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Pietro Mianiti, celebrated the anniversary of Italian public broadcasting with the spectacular symphonic reworkings curated by Andrea Ravizza.
A Narrative of Sound and Vision
The evening was enhanced by the presence of host Massimo Bernardini, who turned the concert into a true documentary and emotional journey. Ravizza's "symphonic fantasies" engaged in a dialogue with the lyrical improvisations of pianist Danilo Rea, building a bridge between historical memory and contemporary orchestral language. From the themes of Rossini and Bach — used for the Start of Broadcasting and Quark respectively — to the driving rhythms of variety shows and great dramas, each medley evoked an era, restoring cultural dignity to the music that accompanied entire generations.
The Nobility of Crossover
The success in Ravenna confirmed the versatility of Ravizza's work: not mere transcriptions, but autonomous musical architectures where popular thematic material is ennobled through expert orchestration. An event that successfully combined the rigor of classical music with the communicative power of the great television repertoire.
